Ken Hitchcock has seen a lot of great play by both his potential number 1 goalies this season.  At the start of the year, the Blues Head Coach announced that he would pick the #1 goalie by the end of October or early November.  We’re now approaching December with still no decision as to who will be goaltender numero uno.

We asked Hitch if he perhaps drew some sort of enjoyment from the drawn out goalie battle.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Hitchcock told us, “However I am currently arranging a goalie fight between them, that will once and for all time decide who our number one goalie is.”

“And by ‘all time’, I mean until one of them loses a game.  Then we’ll be right back to the good ‘ol Tandem.”

Both Brian Elliott, and Jake Allen seemed confused by their Coach’s eagerness to have them fight each other in a bloody duel to the end.

“I don’t want to fight Jake.” Said Elliott. “He’s my buddy, we’re going fishing together next week.  It’s hard to spend a weekend at the lake with a guy you were just trying to murder a few nights ago.”

Blues goalie coach Jim Corsi has reportedly been foregoing standard goalie practices with both Elliott and Allen, and instead has had them working on their left jabs, and jogging throughout the hallways of the Scottrade Center while the Rocky theme song played over the stadium speaker system.
