The 2013 Central Division Race Part 2

Central Division Race

As August winds down, and the final month of the regular season is about to begin, the central division race has gotten even closer.

The Pirates are starting to tire out down the stretch, going 5-5 in their last 10, while the Cardinals and Reds have both picked back up the pace going 7-3 in their last 10.

Currently the Cardinals are just one game out of first, while the Reds are 2.5 out, sitting in 3rd place.

The Cardinals took game 1 of a 4 game series against the Braves, during the game, many Braves fans watching from home practiced throwing beer bottles and empty bags of Doritos’ at the TV whenever Matt Holliday and Pete Kozma showed up.

The Braves have been victims of the Cardinals post-season heroics for the past two years in a row, starting in 2011 when the Cardinals stole the wild-card spot from them on the last day of the season, and the Braves also lost to the Cards in the first ever 1 game Wild Card series.

Meanwhile in the basement, the Cubs and Brewers are locked in a battle of meaningless proportions, each trying to avoid finishing dead last this year.

The Cubs recently traded away any talent they had left for single A players, and the Cubs AAA minor league team, the Iowa Cubs, currently have a better record than the MLB Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs are 54-73, while the Iowa Cubs are 59-74.

The Brewers are not doing much better, and Ryan Braun is currently trying to start a union with Alex Rodriguez, for players taking PEDs who have been caught by MLB.
